Hi, my name is Brittany Guerra, and I’m a young mother who moved into my apartment in June while pregnant, hoping to provide a safe and stable home for my child. Instead, we have endured months of severe neglect and unsafe living conditions that no family especially one with an infant should ever experience.

From the start, I made multiple complaints that were ignored, including:

• A rodent infestation

• Unsafe and unsanitary living conditions

• A broken front door code box, allowing strangers to freely enter the building

• Homeless individuals and drug addicts squatting inside the property

• Frequent power outages in our unit, leaving us without electricity unexpectedly

• No heat throughout the winter

• No carbon monoxide alarms until after the news became involved

As a pregnant woman and now a mother, I repeatedly asked management to fix these dangerous conditions. Nothing was done. We were left without heat in freezing temperatures, without reliable electricity, and without basic safety protections all while caring for a newborn.

Living without heat is dangerous. Losing power regularly is unsafe. Being exposed to strangers entering the building is terrifying. The lack of action by those responsible has taken an emotional, physical, and financial toll on my family.

This fundraiser is to help us recover from the damage caused by months of neglect and to move toward safety and stability. Funds will help with:

• Emergency relocation or securing safe housing

• Replacing essential items damaged by cold and power outages

• Basic necessities for my baby
