A Mother’s Plea: Help My Daughter Brittany Get the Life-Saving Treatment She Desperately Needs

My name is Laura, and I’m writing this as a mother who is heartbroken and desperate to save her daughter’s life.

My daughter Brittany is only 26 years old — a loving, devoted mother of four beautiful children — and she has been suffering from a mysterious, debilitating illness for years while doctors here in the U.S. continue to tell her that “everything looks fine.”

Looking back, we now believe it all started in 2016, when Brittany was pregnant with her first child. Right before giving birth, she suddenly suffered a seizure and had to be helicoptered to RWJ Hospital in New Jersey. It was one of the scariest moments of my life, watching my daughter being airlifted while praying she and her baby would survive. Thankfully, they both made it, but that day changed everything.

After that, Brittany began having severe migraines, memory problems, and brain fog that never fully went away. Doctors brushed it off as stress, hormones, or postpartum exhaustion. She tried to move on, tried to be strong, and pushed through it for her growing family.

Then came 2020, when Brittany caught COVID — and everything spiraled. What started as mild lightheadedness and balance problems became a constant battle just to function. She grew weaker, dizzier, and more confused. The fatigue was unbearable, and her symptoms multiplied — but no one could tell us why.

In the years since, Brittany has seen every specialist you can imagine: cardiologists, neurologists (six different ones), pulmonologists, rheumatologists, immunologists, gastroenterologists, ENTs, eye doctors — the list goes on. She’s been to the hospital over 100 times. Each visit ends the same: “You’re fine.”

But she is not fine.

She can’t stand for more than a few minutes without feeling like she’s going to faint. Her arms and legs go numb, her head pounds with daily migraines, her memory fails her, and her speech sometimes stutters or slips away. She battles constant nausea, unexplained weight gain, and a level of exhaustion that leaves her barely able to care for herself — let alone her four little ones who love and depend on her.

She tells me, “Mom, I don’t even feel like I’m living anymore. I’m just surviving.”

And as her mother, hearing that tears me apart. I see her fighting every single day just to make it through, trying to smile for her children while silently falling apart inside.

After five long years of searching, Brittany finally found hope.

A doctor in the UK who specializes in post-COVID and complex neurological conditions has reviewed her case and believes he can help her. He truly understands what’s happening to her — something no doctor here has been able (or willing) to figure out. For the first time in nearly a decade, we have real hope that she could get her life back.

But the cost of getting to the UK, paying for travel, lodging, and the specialized medical care she needs is far beyond what our family can manage. We are asking for help — any amount, no matter how small — to make this trip and treatment possible.

Brittany deserves a chance to heal. Her children deserve their mom back. And as her mother, I am begging for the help to make that happen.
