Help Brittany Bring Sullivan Home

My name is Brittany, and I am reaching out to share a story that is deeply personal and close to my heart. Horses have been a part of my life since I was five years old, but I lost that connection for many years during a long battle with alcohol. After over a decade of struggle, I am now more than four years sober. Horses played a huge role in my recovery, helping me rediscover compassion and purpose. The first time I truly broke down in rehab was during a visit to an equine therapy facility, where I realized just how much I had lost—and how much I needed horses in my life again.
About a year into my sobriety, I started riding at a local barn, helping exercise horses for owners who couldn’t ride themselves. That’s where I met Sullivan, a Friesian Quarter Cross gelding who immediately captured my heart. We began working together early in the mornings, just the two of us, building trust and learning from each other. Our bond grew stronger with every sunrise ride, and I found myself giving him my trust—and feeling him return it. When I learned he was being sold and would be leaving the state, I was devastated. The void he left was unlike anything I’d felt before. I prayed for his happiness and safety, trying to accept that he was gone. Months later, I was shocked to learn that the sale had fallen through and Sullivan was coming back to the barn. I promised myself that if I ever had another chance, I wouldn’t let him slip away.
Now, I have the opportunity to purchase Sullivan and keep him in my life for good. The funds raised will go directly toward his purchase and some initial care. I am forever grateful for the experiences I’ve already had with him, but the chance to continue this journey means more to me than words can express. Thank you for reading my story and for considering helping me and Sullivan stay together.
