Help Brittany and Hannah After Colton's Illness

Donation protected
My name is Kendra and I’m raising funds for my best friends, Brittany Gordon, Hannah Smith, and their son Colton. Many of you know Colton as my “bonus son” because we are very much a blended family and are truly blessed to have them in our lives.

This past week, Colton became very sick. After a sick visit to his doctor, he was referred to the ER for further workup and care. At the ER, Colton underwent blood work, ultrasounds, and a CT scan, and that was when Brittany and Hannah were presented with the terrifying news that Colton could be suffering from appendicitis or even lymphoma. They were told Colton was being transferred to the MUSC Children’s Hospital for further care. They were suddenly living every parent’s nightmare, and they rushed to MUSC that night. Colton underwent further testing at MUSC and spent several days and nights in the hospital. By the grace of God and through his mama’s continuous prayers, he was found to have a severe case of a stomach virus and would be okay after receiving continuous fluids and around-the-clock care. They thanked God for protecting their baby and were finally able to be discharged home.

If you know Brittany and Hannah, you know how much love they pour into their son, Colton. You might also know that they own and run their own business here in Murrells Inlet, S.C., Gordon’s Auto. When Colton became sick early this past week, they locked the gate to the shop and focused their attention fully on getting Colton the care he needed, which happened to be nearly 100 miles away from home. When you own and run your own family business, there are no sick days or paid time off available. Additionally, there is nobody available to diagnose and work on the cars in their lot when they’re gone. Brittany pours her heart and soul into her work and has been away from her shop for nearly a week, ultimately stopping the sole flow of income into her household. This, paired with unreimbursed medical expenses, has created some hardship for their family—which is the last thing they should be facing while trying to get Colton’s health back on track.

This beautiful family gives back to the community every chance they can, and Brittany would probably cuss me if she knew I was making this GoFundMe. She doesn’t ask for help—ever. If you feel inclined to give, I couldn’t think of a more deserving family than this one.

Help me bless my bonus family while they navigate this hardship, and help ease their minds so they can focus on each other right now.
