Help Britt and Buck Latona's Family Stay by Their Son’s Side

I don’t know how to introduce myself. I basically am just a mother. A mother for 30 years. But my name is Britt Latona.

My vibrant son Baylen Latona was diagnosed with TTP Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, the rarest type, on January 30th. After a week-long hospital stay in ICU and plasma exchange, they released him to go home on February 3rd. By Friday, he relapsed and was rushed back to the hospital.

This time, he had a small brain bleed, and when asked his name, he had a seizure.

He has been on a ventilator and medication since Friday. Yesterday, they said he caught pneumonia, which is even more bad news.

We believe that he is still with us and will pull through.

What I’m asking for help with is my son is 1000 miles away from us.

We have been down here since January 30th. My husband has used up his vacation time, and due to the need for a paycheck, we will either not have any income, or he will have to return before my son wakes up. We are willing to lose everything to be here, but I have another child I need to worry about too.

We all dropped everything and came to be with him in this fight.

We just need some help to help my husband fly back home to work and possibly fly back on his days off.

The cost of just getting to the hospital daily and keeping enough food in us to get through the day. We don’t have the money to fly back and forth my husband. Which his heartbreaking. He has to work.

We just need help to be here for him until he wakes up, or for my husband to fly back home to his job and afford to fly back down in an emergency.

We are looking at months of recovery.
