Help Britni Fight a Life Threatening Condition
Donation protected
The friends and family of Britni Cathleen Meighan are coming together to help raise money for medical costs while she fights a life threatening infection and recovers from the havoc it has wreaked on her body.
Recently, Britni has learned that she is infected with an amoeba that has hijacked her body, causing an alarming range of issues that are ultimately life threatening. There is an infection that is spreading through her GI system causing unusual levels of cortisol as well as constant distress and severe pain throughout her body. She has experienced muscle and bone deterioration from being bedridden for an extended period and the pain she feels can only be managed with heavy medication. She is now unable to perform simple tasks and requires constant care. She has a masters degree in psychology but can no longer work, with no return in sight.
Britni has experienced a rapid decline in her health, impairing her cognitive abilities as well as the ability to walk, speak, and function in everyday life. Until now, several specialists were unable to diagnose Britni’s constant body pain and deterioration, throwing out several possibilities but refusing to act on them. Trips to the ER caused more distress as she was not taken seriously or examined properly. She was quickly dismissed, only to be sent home with more questions. It took over a year to find a doctor that was willing to observe all her symptoms and correctly test and diagnose.
Because of the length of time she has been fighting this infection untreated, it is estimated that recovery could take 1-2 years. Her condition has prevented her from working, causing her to lose her insurance and is now forced to pay out of pocket for new medications and treatments to combat her bodily intruder.
The funds raised will go directly to Britni and her bi-weekly treatments as she journeys on the long road to recovery. They will help pay for doctor visits, medications, antibiotics, physical therapy, and psychotherapy.
For those of us close to Britni, we love and admire her for her inner strength and ability to endure. Her beautiful spirit and contributions to her community make her extremely important to a lot of people. Please help us give back to her for all the love and warmth she has given us and all the suffering she has unjustly endured.
