Help Brit Keep Her Business Going
Hey friends and fellow Swifties! This GoFundMe campaign is being posted to help a well-known and beloved member of our community, Brit (user @uptightlesbian). Brit is a talented seamstress and the founder of I Think She Sews, an Etsy store that makes cute and inclusive music-themed apparel. You may have seen her pride flag lyric tees on your timeline in June!
Brit has had a stressful year. She recently moved back home to LA after living with family during the pandemic for a while and her sewing machine was broken during the travel. She has tried her best to continue her business even with a damaged machine, but this past week her laptop also failed and the repair shop says there is nothing they can do.
This means Brit is incapable of designing new products or even printing labels for her current orders. She is very stressed about how to keep her business running when the two most important tools to run it are no longer working. She has not shared this on the timeline or asked for help herself because she doesn’t want to feel like a burden or distract from a more “worthy” cause.
But we know Brit is worth everything and more! We know that she’s a valued and adored member of the Swiftie fandom and that her products have made so many feel seen and appreciated. She’s got a kind and generous heart and would be the first to boost someone else asking for help in the situation she is in.
We have talked to Brit about her needs to figure out the best options to replace her tools. Brit fell in a love with a Surface Go Laptop for $750 from Best Buy that she thinks she might be able to partially finance if she doesn’t have the full amount. A friend’s mom, who runs a full time sewing business, recommended she shoot for around $400-$500 for a quality embriodery/sewing machine that can handle her business output.
To get both items replaced at these price points would be about $1,200, with a goal set to $1300 due to fees. Even half that would make a huge dent in helping Brit, who is also trying to find a new apartment during all this.
Brit has never asked for help like this before but always supports her friends. I think it would mean the world to her to see how much we appreciate her and want her business to succeed.
Thank you for reading and please don’t feel bad if you can’t contribute anything! Even sharing on social media helps so much!
