Help Bri's Fight Against A Rare Blood Disorder
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Briana, but I go by Bri. I recently got diagnosed with a rare blood disorder
called severe aplastic anemia and PNH, which had forced me to put my entire life on hold—from going to college to something as simple as going to the store. Similar to leukemia, my bone marrow is only producing 5% of the stem cells my body needs. I now have a greater risk of getting life-threatening viruses. Without treatment involving chemotherapy, radiation and a bone marrow transplant my condition can lead to death.
I'm 19 years old, and I recently started college but had to leave after my first semester. I’m studying Biology with the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor so I can help other people.
The reason why I started this GoFundMe is because, the treatment involves chemo and radiation treatments and as a result there is a high risk of infertility. Unfortunately, the cost of fertility egg harvest treatments (~$12,000) are not covered by our insurance. Also, because I must remain isolated and in the Seattle area (4.5 hours from my home) for 4 months after my transplant, the housing costs are going to exceed $8000.
I started this GoFundMe to assist my parents with my medical bills because I'm unable to work at this moment, and our insurance is unable to cover all of our expenses. My treatment and healing will carry on for about a year. Anything helps. Thank you.
