Hi, Our names are Brinkly and David Cobb and this is our story of our baby girl, Madilynn Grace!
At 18 weeks pregnant, we found out our baby girl could possibly have Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) and we found out that she has AVSD. AVSD is a congenital heart defect where no chambers in the heart have formed and she would have to have surgery at 4-6 months of age to have it repaired.
At 36 weeks pregnant, we found out that I, Brinkly, the mother, had low blood, iron, sugar, and my skin started turning yellow. I had labs done and found out that I had a bile acid blood value of 26 which was severely elevated and with that, I had to deliver sweet Madilynn Grace at 37 weeks via C-section due to the heart defect and not letting the bile acid in my blood transfer to her blood and hurt her. She was born on June 28th at 2:56 pm, weighing 5lbs 8oz, and was immediately taken to the NICU for monitoring on her heart and oxygen. Since the birth, she had been in the NICU hooked up to monitors and was patiently waiting for her coarctation aorta to stop closing. I was recovering from the C-section in the hospital but Madilynn Grace had to stay in the NICU.
On July 2nd Madilynn started having side effects to a medication she was giving to keep her aorta open and it was bottoming her oxygen out and making her brain tell her to stop breathing while she slept so they had to lower the medication on her.
On July 3rd at 12:30pm Madilynn’s oxygen started to get dangerously low and they tried to intubate her while doing this her heart rate dropped dangerously low and they immediately started a cardiopulmonary bypass surgery to get her on ecmo during this she coded at 1:03pm they did cpr on her for 45min and they successfully got her on the bypass. After this incident and as the days went by we found out that our babygirl didn’t come back it was ecmo helping her organs and she had 0 brain activity since the incident.
We had to make decisions about disconnecting our babygirl on July 9th. I haven’t updated because I needed to get myself together and to a point where I could share the rest of this story for us.
What we are asking is for a little help
for me and my husband to be able to pay for our medical bills as my husband doesn’t have insurance but has developed seizures from the loss of our 11 day old babygirl.
Anything will help us and we greatly appreciate it in advance. Thank you and God Bless you!
