Help Bring Zahra Home

While traveling in Morocco, we met a tiny kitten who changed everything. At the desert camp where we stayed, she followed us everywhere.... curling up by our feet, chasing after us as we walked, and finally falling asleep right in our arms. We named her Zahra, which means “flower,” because despite her rough start in life, she bloomed with love the moment she felt safe.

Since then, I’ve arranged veterinary care for her: Zahra is vaccinated, spayed, and healthy. The only thing left is bringing her safely home to New Jersey so she can grow up surrounded by love instead of uncertainty.

Unfortunately, the cost of international pet transport is overwhelming. Zahra is still just 6 months old and 4 lbs, which means she cannot travel in cargo — she must fly in-cabin with an escort. Between airline pet fees, a flight companion, ground transport to Casablanca airport (the only direct route to the U.S. within the next 2 weeks), and final veterinary paperwork, the costs add up quickly. We’ve already stretched our resources to cover her care, but we are about $1,500 over budget — which is why we set our fundraising goal at this amount.

At home, I already have three rescue cats adopted from local shelters. While we always try to support shelters here, cats in Morocco simply aren’t afforded the same opportunities for safety and adoption. We feel strongly about giving this little one the chance at a secure, loving home — something she would not otherwise have.
