Help Bring Yony “Gordo” Sibrián Home to His Family
Two weeks ago, our dear friend and community member Yony Sibrián — many of you know him as Gordo — was unfairly detained while driving home from a landscaping job. He was stopped at a green light while preparing to turn left, yet the state trooper claimed the light was red and issued an unjust ticket — a ticket that still hasn’t appeared in the system for the family to review or pay.
Despite having a valid work permit, paying taxes, and being in the process of obtaining his residency, Yony was taken into custody and sent to an ICE detention "Alligator Alcatraz" known for its harsh and inhumane conditions.
Yony is a hard-working husband, a loving family man, and a dedicated small-business owner who, with his wife, Jacky, started his own landscaping company from the ground up. He has always been the first to lend a helping hand and has sacrificed so much to build a better future — a piece of the American dream that now feels out of reach.
His family is anxiously waiting for his hearing on December 9, where his bond is expected to be between $10,000–$20,000. This amount will determine whether he can return home to his loved ones or face the heartbreaking possibility of deportation.
During a season meant for warmth, love, and togetherness, Yony’s family is praying for a miracle. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help bring him one step closer to coming home.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, support, and generosity. Every donation, share, and prayer truly makes a difference.
