Hi friends! My name is Maria Chryssopoulos, and I am raising funds for my production, "Yesterday is Dead." Originally, this production came from writer Ellen Frazar, whose unpublished novel was discovered in an archival library at UGA, eventually springing into a grant research project that asks: Can work from queer women a century ago impact queer women today? After lots of time and creative passion with my team, this project becomes a one-woman show, exploring modern-day lesbianism through the life of Joel, the main protagonist in Ellen's story. Now, this show asks the universal question: Why are lesbians so sad?!
This show has been seen in workshop performances at UGA and was presented at Lavender Fest: a festival that ignites queer stories, in Atlanta, GA. Now, the time has come for the play to move in different avenues! The money used in this fundraiser will help support getting the production up on its feet and to help my team and I get to its next stop. We can't discuss yet where this show is going (due to publicity purposes), but to help ease concerns, most of the donations will be going to travel and production costs. In about a month, I will be able to publicly share where this production is going next. Without these donations, it will be difficult to get my production where it needs to go to continue Ellen's story. As an artist, it is essential to uplift queer stories that I am passionate about, and "Yesterday is Dead" expands that story at a time that is needed now more than ever.
Attached here is a review of my show in case you would like to learn more, and I hope you can support this opportunity. If not, please share with as many people as you can! Your voice is just as powerful.
