Help Bring Yarn and Fiber to Petaluma!

Help Fiber Circle Studio expand and bring all things yarn and fiber to our community in Petaluma, California! Expected re-launch - July 2021

Fiber Circle Studio will be moving from its current location in Cotati to a larger space in downtown Petaluma. The new space allows the studio to expand it's retail of local yarn producers and makers into a larger, full scale yarn shop, and I need YOUR help to make this happen! Donations of $100 or more will receive mystery perks in the mail, so be sure you leave your mailing address!

As a single mom, traditional means of acquiring capital are not available to me, so I am looking to fund this project through donations.

Continue reading to learn more about how the studio started, my vision for expansion, and how your donation will help bring this dream into reality!

In 2018, after two years of dedicated and passionate research, building relationships in the community, spreading word about my vision and creating my dream space, Fiber Circle Studio came to life.

When I first opened the studio, my vision was focused solely on offering a space for workshops and workspace in the fiber arts -a place for you to explore weaving, spinning, dyeing, knitting and all things fiber. As the studio evolved, I began dyeing yarn with my friend and colleague, Rebecca. This marked the start of the studio's retail shop.

When Covid hit and all classes and usage of the studio came to a halt, this small retail component kept Fiber Circle Studio alive. And it grew, as I incorporated other local makers and yarn producers.

Now the vision is evolving - the creation of a space where you can explore the fiber arts through workshops and workspace, and indulge in a full scale shop filled with specialty yarns, fibers, notions and locally made goods.

A Makerspace and Marketplace for all things fiber!

The space is 2500 square feet, nestled in the heart of downtown Petaluma on Kentucky Street. With high ceilings, an open floor plan, and a space for a dye room in back, my heart is thumping at the idea of bringing you a yarn shop without downsizing the studio!

I am back to my notebook, filling it with ideas of planning out the space and researching all the goodies I want to make available to you. My dreams are swirling with visions of this new space, busy with excited yarn and fiber lovers!

Through the recent process of ending my 8 year marriage, I have discovered the unyielding power and strength my community holds, and how important it is to ask for help when you need. The term, "it takes a village" has never held more weight and meaning to me than it does now. As someone who is independent and uncomfortable accepting help, I have dug deep to come to the realization that some things simply can not be done alone.

If you are inspired and have the means to support this next phase of Fiber Circle Studio, I will be eternally grateful for any contribution or support you can provide.

Your donation will be applied towards space improvements, inventory, moving costs, additional furniture and fixtures, and the first few months of operating expenses until it gains momentum.

Thank you for the endless support... the words of kindness and encouragement. It's a new feeling for me to be filled with so much love, that I'm positively overwhelmed. Thank you for helping me successfully bring my passion into the community!

With love and gratitude,
Alisha
