PROJECT PITCH: WILDFLOWER

Hey everyone! My name is Michelle Julian, I'm the writer, producer, and actress of WILDFLOWER, a psychological thriller 10-minute short film about friendship, grief, and what happens when healing goes wrong.

This is my first film project I’m working on after graduating from the University of California, Irvine. My hope for this film is to create something intimate, surreal, and dark that connects with audiences, showcases my voice as a filmmaker, and serves as a calling card for future opportunities through festival submissions and exposure.

What’s it about?

Two best friends decide to take shrooms together to heal a heartbreak, but the trip spirals into a beautiful nightmare when a mysterious purple mushroom appears. Reality and illusion blur until only one thing is left: fear itself.

What is necessary to make this film come to life?

This project requires careful color grading, detailed props, and thoughtful sound design to bring the hallucinations and haunting atmosphere to life.

Why am I making this?

This story holds great significance for me. It's about the haunting ways we cope with pain, how we hold each other up, and how easy it is to slip when you’re trying to save yourself. It’s raw, intimate, and strange — exactly the kind of film I love.
