Our hearts are heavy as we write this, but we are asking for help for our grandma Vernie, who is currently fighting cancer.
Anyone who knows Vernie knows how loving, strong, and caring she is. She has spent her life taking care of others, and now it’s our turn to take care of her. Right now, Vernie is being kept in a convalescent home because her doctors will not allow her to come home until we are able to provide all of the proper medical equipment needed for her care and safety. All we want is to bring her home, where she can be surrounded by the people who love her most while she continues this fight. Our mom Bridget is Vernie’s primary caregiver and has dedicated herself completely to being there for her every step of the way. To stay close to Vernie and save money on travel and expenses, she has been sleeping in her car outside the nursing home. That is how deeply loved Vernie is and how hard our family is trying to hold everything together during this heartbreaking time. We are asking for donations to help us cover necessary medical equipment and home care supplies, gas and transportation costs for doctor visits and treatments, and expenses related to caring for Vernie at home.
No family ever wants to ask for help, but right now we truly cannot do this alone. Every donation, share, prayer, and kind word means more to us than we can possibly express. Even the smallest contribution helps bring our grandma one step closer to coming home. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your compassion, and for helping our family through one of the hardest times in our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us.
