We have just two days to make this happen.

This weekend, Nigeria will host the First International Improv and Playback Theatre Festival in Africa, bringing together artists, educators, facilitators, and theatre practitioners from around the world.

Earlier this year, Access to Play and the Black Improv Alliance partnered to deliver the Art Africa Internship Program, supporting approximately 20 emerging improvisers and playback theatre practitioners from across Africa through six months of learning, mentorship, and community building.

From this cohort, two young practitioners from Uganda and Cameroon were selected to attend the festival in Nigeria.

For many African artists, opportunities like this are rare. International travel, visa requirements, and financial barriers often prevent talented practitioners from accessing the training, networks, and experiences that help grow their work.

We have already raised $650 and secured support for their visa expenses.

Now, with the festival only days away, we need to raise at least $1,200 more to cover the remaining travel costs and ensure they can join us.

While we wish we could bring more participants, our current resources allow us to support only two. Our hope is that they will return home with new skills, relationships, and inspiration that they can share with others, helping to strengthen the improv and playback theatre communities in their countries.

This is more than a trip. It is an investment in the future of improvisation and playback theatre in Africa.
