Hi, my name is Brian Carr. I’m a toy photographer with over 15 years of experience, and the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Toytography Magazine LLC. I’m raising funds to help open "Toytography Exhibit & Camera Store" in Big Bear, California — a first-of-its-kind creative space that brings photography, art, and high-end collectible figures together in a real, physical gallery.
This project is about more than a store. It’s about creating a welcoming, inspiring creative destination for artists, photographers, collectors, families, and visitors of all ages.
Why Toytography?
Toy photography—also known as toytography—has grown into a global art movement. Artists around the world use collectible figures to create cinematic images that tell stories, spark imagination, and inspire creativity.
For over a decade, I’ve been part of this community:
- Creating and exhibiting toy photography
- Supporting artists through Toytography Magazine
- Teaching and encouraging new creatives
- Sharing the art form with audiences worldwide
Despite its growth, toy photography is still mostly experienced online. I believe it deserves a physical home—a place where people can experience it in person, learn how it’s made, and feel inspired to create themselves.
What We’re Building
Toytography Exhibit & Camera Store will be a destination space that includes:
- A professionally curated toy photography exhibit
- High-end collectible figure displays used in cinematic scenes
- A specialty camera store with gear, rentals, and support
- Workshops, photo walks, and hands-on learning experiences
- Community nights and creative events for all ages
This will not be a traditional museum or retail store — it will be an interactive creative experience designed to inspire curiosity and imagination.
Why Big Bear, California?
Big Bear is a year-round mountain destination for Southern California visitors, photographers, and families. While it offers incredible outdoor experiences, it lacks modern indoor creative attractions.
- Toytography Exhibit & Camera Store will:
- Add a unique indoor experience for visitors
- Support the local creative economy
- Encourage art, education, and tourism year-round
My Personal Commitment
I’ve already personally invested over $30,000 in high-end collectibles for the exhibit. These pieces will be used to create fully realized gallery scenes from day one.
This project is deeply personal to me, and your support helps turn years of work, passion, and community-building into a permanent creative space.
How Your Donations Will Be Used
Every dollar raised will directly support bringing this space to life, including:
- Exhibit lighting, buildout, and secure display cases
- Camera store and gallery fixtures
- Security systems and insurance
- Marketing and community opening events
- Permits and operational startup costs
Transparency matters. I’m committed to using donations responsibly and sharing progress along the way.
Why Your Support Matters
Your donation helps:
- Prove community interest
- Reduce startup risk
- Create a welcoming creative space
- Support independent art and education
- Bring something truly unique to Big Bear
- Even small contributions make a meaningful difference.
Thank You
If you believe in supporting independent artists, creative education, and unique community spaces, I would be incredibly grateful for your support.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
