My Name is Afolabi Alli, I'm an Actor and writer. My work spans theatre, television, film, and voice performance. Some credits include Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre London, Netflix, BBC and a lead role in a BAFTA nominated game. Currently, I'm excited to be stepping into a new role in the creation of my first short film...

The Story

Together with Tomi Oyemakinde we've created a story - drawing inspiration from the film Locke directed by Steven Knight and The After , directed by Misan Harriman, this film explores the quiet intensity of grief and masculinity, telling a deeply personal story through one character’s journey.

Driving on his way to a life-changing meeting that could propel his

career forward, Adebayo's journey is derailed by a series of unexpected events following the sudden loss of a family member, forcing him to confront grief, guilt, and the fragility of his own mind.

Why?

I am passionate about telling stories that inspire and build connection, especially through the medium of film. This story centres around the themes of grief and identity - themes central to the human experience, but so often not discussed.

In fact, according to the Priory's survey of 1,000 men in the UK, 40% of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. This highlights the urgent need to encourage open conversations among men about their mental well-being and to challenge the stigma that often prevents them from seeking support.

This culturally grounded story explores the shared human experience of grief, encouraging thought and conversation.

A deeply personal film exploring love and identity, with emotional tones reminiscent of Moonlight.
