Incarnation, Crucifixion, and Resurrection Albums
My name is Sarah Wilcox and I am trying to raise $18,000 to record three albums based on the life of Christ: “Emmanuel”—His incarnation, “Crucify Him”—His crucifixion, and “My Lord and My God”—His resurrection.
In March 2020 during Lent, my church was reading the stories of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection from the book of Luke. I had never put narratives to music before, but reading the scriptures and experiencing the drama of the story brought me straight to the piano where I started writing what became “Crucify Him,” a musical setting of the crucifixion.
After the first performance, a pastor came up to me with tears in his eyes and said, “Well, now you have to put the resurrection to music.”
That was enough to get me started on my next project, “My Lord and My God,” a rendition of the resurrection story which I performed at a house concert in September.
The final step was putting the incarnation to music in order to have a complete 3-album set of the life of Christ. I wrote “Emmanuel” this past fall and will perform it on December 10, 2021.
Setting biblical narratives to music has been a meditative experience that has drawn me deeper into Christ’s love, and I’m hoping it will do the same for others.
My goal is to raise $18,000 to record these three albums in order to make them available to more people. Here is what the money will be used for: (comprehensive list)
- $8,000 for recording
- $6,000 for mixing/mastering
- $2,500 to pay the musicians
- $1,000 CD production:
- $500 for the Artwork from a local artist in Hyattsville.
