A comedic yet ceremonial one-woman play about ancestry, identity, and belonging
Hola, I’m Natasha. I’m Argentinian, Spanish, Polish-Jewish, and now American - so yes, I basically live in a constant identity crisis. That’s why I decided to write a deeply personal play about my journey around the world to find myself, with only yerba mate by my side
This September, the show launches in Los Angeles and it isn’t your average theater piece. It’s intimate, immersive, and interactive. In the story Yerba Mate is a portal and connector. A grounding force and my companion through exile, heartbreak, and spiritual insights, from Buenos Aires to Miami, from Madrid to the Ganges.
But to bring this vision to life, I need your help.
✧.* Why I’m Asking for Support ✧.*
I’m a young artist independently producing this show, and I need resources to cover:
-Venue costs.
-A tech person to run sound and lights.
-Marketing and promo.
-Props and costumes for the many versions of me.
-And of course… yerba.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward production costs to ensure this show gets the launch it deserves. I will also use ticket revenue to cover production costs as well as donate to an environmental non-profit.
This is just the beginning. The Mate Monologues is part of a larger multimedia project, with future plans for a world tour, podcast, traveling series, and global collaborations with artists and brands rooted in ritual, identity, and healing. As a supporter, you’ll be part of it all!
✧.* What It’s About ✧.*
Through humor, music, movement, character work, and mate-fueled chaos, I explore the common immigrant experience of feeling lost in the world and what it means to find home within oneself. You’ll travel with me through my ancestry and many selves: from my Polish ancestors escaping the Holocaust, to a constipated teen in Miami, to a trash girl on a film set in Spain, to a spiritual seeker sipping mate on the banks of the Ganges in India about to meet the Dalai Lama.
This play is for anyone who’s ever wanted to see a modern Latina version of Eat, Pray, Love. No one has ever wanted to see that? Well I did!
✧.* Can You Help? ✧.*
If you believe in storytelling that heals, laughter that liberates, and theater as a form of transformation and collective ritual - I would be so grateful for your support.
And if you can’t contribute financially, that’s totally okay. There are so many other ways to help like sharing this campaign, spreading the word, donating props, skill trading, offering rehearsal space, or just sharing unos mates conmigo. Don’t be shy about reaching out. I’d love to hear from you.
Gracias,
