The Fundraiser - What is it for?

Hello, my name is Aaron, & I am the creative lead on The Lullaby Weaver. The Lullaby Weaver has been a dream project of mine for a long time, & I have now reached the point where I need help to raise money to buy new tools & equipment to finish the rest of the game.

Rotoscoping for example, is time consuming & requires a lot of digital art tools such as subscriptions, drawing tablets, & a capable PC. By helping with donations, The Lullaby Weaver can attain these tools, work on marketing the game properly, & bring players a unique horror experience that blends the line between nostalgia & rich story-telling.

What will the funds be used for?

As with most creative projects, alot of the time, money will be used on tools, subscriptions, purchasing licenses, partner programmes, adhoc development costs, store front upfront fees, physical production, & updating existing or outdated equipment.

Our biggest hurdle right now, is animating everything by hand. We are both fiercly against using AI, & so it is important to us that this game is created using our own skills that we have worked so hard to develop. Adriano handles all of the artwork, while I code, and hand animate everything in Unreal Engine. This is very time consuming, & using more up-to-date equipment will help speed up the timeline in getting this completed.

About The Lullaby Weaver:

The Lullaby Weaver is a 1 bit psychological point & click horror game inspired by games like World of Horror, Silent Hill, & the works of Junji Ito. The Lullaby Weaver takes players on a journey of self discovery after Maya loses her grandmother and returns home to settle her estate. Upon arriving at Cold Springs, not everything is at it seems. With the town seemingly empty, and unspeakable creatures roaming freely, Maya must explore, solve puzzles, and avoid getting killed by the horrors that challenge her psyche, to deal with her memories of the past and find the Lullaby Weaver, the fabled entity that could get her free of the pain she carries in her heart.

Explore a beautiful, yet haunting hand-drawn town full of places to see. Solve meaningful puzzles, & experience side stories that develop on the games underlying lore, that help Maya restore what was lost. With it's richly detailed animations, emotional storytelling, and creepy atmosphere, The Lullaby Weaver promises a memorable experience for fans of the Horror genre.

About the Team:

Myself & Adriano are two friends who share a love of horror & psychological storytelling. The Lullaby Weaver was born during a time of long discussions around what is next for the genre, & feeling let down by recent horror releases. We wanted something that felt new, but also reminded us of the older horror games from the 90's. We wanted something that had a compelling story, with lots of exploration & side stories to experience. We also wanted to incorporate changing gameplay mechanics for certain areas which would see the player change how it interacted with the world. As a result, we introduced dungeon/rogue-like elements to The Lullaby Weaver which keeps gameplay feeling fresh, & adding new ways to experience the monsters.

This campaign is our chance to bring The Lullaby Weaver to life. It's a story of importance, one of loss, & how it impacts the psychological side of people when they experience pain. We hope it encourages players to look closer, & find the connections in the story that they may not have noticed before.

Art & Animation:

Art & animation are at the very core of The Lullaby Weaver. With years of experience in the industry & now fully focused on indie projects, Adriano & I have contributed to the art & animation of numerous games across different genres. This project is a culmination of that experience, blending our passion for storytelling with the craft of hand-drawn, hand-animated visuals.

Music & SFX:

The music of The Lullaby Weaver will feature a blend of atmospheric, yet unsettling tones during your exploration throughout Cold Springs. Certain key areas will feature their own music & sound effects that coincide with the underlying theme & setting. These pieces were carefully created by Alex Bruyns to help complement the game's emotional, yet unnerving undertones.

The sound design of The Lullaby Weaver was especially important to us since it helps convey the message that underlines the game as a whole. Not only this, adding SFX that matched the games visual style helps immerse the player & invoke their feelings while playing.

Inspirations:

As mentioned before, our main inspiration for The Lullaby Weaver is based around World of Horror, Silent Hill, Junji Ito, along with Faith & Clock Tower. All of these games share a unique outlook on psychological horror, along with great story-telling & deep lore.

  • World of Horror plays an important part of what inspired The Lullaby Weaver. It's graphical style was something that looked fitting for our idea, but we also wanted ours to look different. The main inspiration here was what could be achieved with the 1 bit style & limited colour palette.
  • Silent Hill is renowned for it's psychological horror & story telling. We drew inspirations from Silent Hill because it is a franchise close to our hearts & we wanted to see if we could combine the 2D nature of our game with the exploration of a sleepy town.
  • Junji Ito is a master at his design, & for The Lullaby Weaver we wanted to create creatures & monsters that drew inspiration from this. This is why throughout the game, you will encounter different creatures that both stalk you, & ones you meet though the various side stories available, each dripping in their own lore.
  • Clock Tower is another series that taps into survival horror but also it's point & click roots. Since The Lullaby Weaver will work like this too it was important that we looked at the series for inspiration. We didn't draw from the later ones as these moved to 3D, but the inventory system was our main inspiration for this.

Platforms:

We’re launching The Lullaby Weaver on PC via Steam, with plans to expand to more platforms depending on Donations. Our first goal is to secure the PC/Steam platform, but we would love to bring The Lullaby Weaver to the Nintendo Switch, where its atmospheric hand-drawn world will truly shine.

Epic Games market place would also be something we look to bring it to, along with Playstation & Xbox.

Additional Info:

We’ve carefully planned our schedule, ensuring a realistic timeline while maintaining flexibility for unexpected hurdles. Whether it’s fine-tuning mechanics, perfecting animations, or navigating platform certification requirements, we have contingency plans in place and are ready to tackle challenges head-on.

Transparency is key to our process. We promise to keep you updated every step of the way through regular development updates. These updates will include progress reports, challenges we’re addressing, and celebrations of milestones reached.

We have extensive experience in game development and storytelling, but The Lullaby Weaver is our most ambitious project yet. We’re confident in our skills and the amazing collaborators we’ve brought on board. Even so, we recognize the importance of adaptability and continuous learning as we work to bring The Lullaby Weaver to life.

Thank you for trusting us with this journey. Your support means the world to us, and we can’t wait to share the story of The Lullaby Weaver with you!
