Hello!

We’re Charlie Turner and Liv Warden, the writers of Lightning Boy; a bold new British musical that depicts the teenage chaos of Greek Gods; a Succession-style family power struggle with Hairspray-inspired soul music, betrayal, love, and finding your voice against all odds. It’s a show that was written about young people, for young people, to be performed by a large cast of young people; a rare thing in new British musical theatre.

This summer, the National Youth Music Theatre produced the World Premiere of Lightning Boy at the Birmingham Hippodrome after significant development with their New Work department and previews at Upstairs at the Gatehouse and West End Live. The response blew us away and we quickly realised it deserved to be celebrated beyond its initial production.

Our NYMT original cast and band were extraordinary; they found confidence, friendship, community, and a space where they could be brave, bold, and creative. They brought the house down with their performances and it seemed like a no-brainer to capture the show as a recording during the Birmingham run… so we did just that!

We’re now ready to share these amazing recordings with the world… But we need your help.
