Help Bring The Last Palestinian Crocodile to Life
Donation protected
Hello, my name is May Herbawe, and I’m a Palestinian artist and researcher currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Audiovisual Arts at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels. I'm raising funds to complete the post-production phase of my current project, an audiovisual piece titled The Last Palestinian Crocodile.
This project began in 2022 during my residency Intimacy at the Apocalyptic Phase, at Dar Jacir, Betlehem, where I began tracing the story of the last known Palestinian crocodile, which once lived in my hometown of Jisr al-Zarqa. What started as a historical inquiry soon transformed into a layered exploration of land, memory, and the colonial violence that shapes both physical and imaginative geographies. The crocodile became a symbol of resistance, of rootedness, and of the reclamation of our narratives.
This work also marks my return to refractive arts, after years of artistic pause due to personal and political circumstances. Now, as the project evolves into a major audiovisual piece for my master’s , I’m seeking support to complete the final stages: color grading and editing. These technical processes are crucial for the piece to reach its full expressive potential and be shown publicly in cultural spaces.
Your support will directly help me bring this vision to completion and, more importantly, contribute to preserving and amplifying a Palestinian story that resists erasure.
Thank you for standing with independent artists and stories from Palestine.
