Hi! I'm Kerith, some of you will know me as Terry's wife. For those of you that know Terry, you know that he is an incredibly active Volunteer with the NSW Rural Fire Service, a key driving point in our Alpaca Breeding Program, avid Panthers fan and complete Social Butterfly. On 20th March Terry was taken to hospital following a sudden onset of quadriplegia. Within a few days he was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome - an autoimmune disease which sees one's immune system attack the nerve sheathing & nerves in the legs, arms and hands (severe cases can also see the lungs impacted).

Terry is currently still in hospital (14 weeks now since his initial visit to A&E). Due to the fact that we may not qualify for NDIS support (Doctors think Terry will make a full recovery but it will take time - how much time they can't tell us). We have a discharge plan and approval to bring him home but we need to have some specialised equipment installed in the house in order to bring him home.

Most of this equipment we can rent, but without Terry working, the financial strain on the family is massive. Adding this rental equipment if we don't qualify for NDIS will send us bankrupt sadly. We need to find a way to rent a Hospital Bed & Mattress, Wheelchair, Commode and a Forearm-Support Frame (FASF) as a minimum to get him home.

12 weeks Rental for these items comes to a significant cost - let alone having to pay for Wheel Chair taxi's to get him to and from appointments (when we brought him home for a visit it was $155 each way for a wheel chair taxi from the Hospital).

While we appreciate that the cost of living is hitting all of us hard, many of you have always said if we need anything to reach out...........this is the support we need to bring Terry home safely so he can continue to rehabilitate and return to normal life in comfort.
