“O woe is me, to have seen what I have seen, see what I see.” - Hamlet
The Story
Suspension of Disbelief follows a young woman haunted by the remnants of an ambiguous past relationship. Drawn again and again to a small production of Hamlet, she finds herself caught between performance and reality, forced to confront emotional truths she has long avoided.
This drama is an intimate portrait of how art becomes a mirror for our unresolved emotions. Themes of gendered silence, emotional labor, and the search for closure echo throughout, making the story both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Why This Film?
We believe theatre is the perfect metaphor for emotional limbo, where memory, performance, and truth overlap. Stylistically, the film will be introspective, emotionally strained, and visually poetic, blending multiple art forms into a raw, layered, and unforgettable experience. Drawing inspiration from Past Lives, Fleabag, Moulin Rouge, and One Day, the work aims to resonate as both intimate and universal. Taking inspiration from an iconic Shakespeare play, we not only honor something timeless and classic but also help audiences connect with new media in ways that feel both fresh and familiar.
Why We Need Your Support
Independent filmmaking is as much about resourcefulness as it is about vision. While our single-location approach ensures budget efficiency, we still need funding for:
- Theater rental and insurance
- Cast and crew wages
- Equipment and post-production
- Costumes, set design, and props
Your contribution, no matter the size, will directly help us bring this film from script to screen with the integrity it deserves.
