Meet Sushi — a sweet, loyal pup and certified emotional support animal who has been the heart of Liz Bonilla’s life since 2021. They’ve shared laughter, healing, and quiet comfort through life’s toughest moments. But today, Sushi is missing — not lost, not strayed — withheld. While Liz was intubated in the ICU after suffering cardiac arrest, a family member she doesn’t normally have contact with took Sushi from her home without permission and turned him into Osceola County Animal Control. Despite Sushi being microchipped to Liz and registered as her emotional support animal, he was transferred to a rescue — A Forever Home Animal Rescue — on April 26, 2025. When Liz recovered enough to call and reclaim her dog, she was met with silence, lies, and cruel laughter. The rescue told her “good luck” hung up and has refused to return her calls, acknowledge her legal ownership, or reunite her with the animal she loves. This isn’t just a story about a lost pet — it’s about a broken system, ignored rights, and the emotional devastation of a woman who did everything right… and is still being denied justice.
