My name is Avonley Lightstone, and I am the author of the memoir Strength of Scars. My story began with tragedy at the age of three, when a house fire took my mother’s life. Afterward, I was placed up for adoption, believing safety awaited me, but instead I grew up in a home where I endured emotional and physical abuse.

Those experiences taught me about pain and survival, but they did not define me.

I wrote Strength of Scars to give voice to childhood trauma and abuse, and to share a message of hope that our scars can become our strength. The response has been deeply moving, with readers from around the world sharing how my story helped them feel seen and less alone.

Recently, a film producer recognized the potential for my memoir to become a feature film or TV series. I am now working with a producer involved in major films such as 300, The Spiderwick Chronicles, and Letters to Juliet to develop a professional, market-ready screenplay that can be pitched to major studios and streaming platforms.

To retain the rights to my life story and remain creatively involved, I must fund the screenplay myself. The process takes 6–8 months and costs $50,000, which is standard for a professional feature screenplay. This path allows me to protect the integrity and truth of the story.
