PLEASE HELP SHARE SONNY’S STORY 

This is Sonny John Lasquite and what’s happening to him right now is heartbreaking and unjust.

 Sonny has been a lawful permanent resident of the United States since 2002. He’s a hardworking man, the sole breadwinner for his family, and a beloved friend and community member.

 Thirteen years ago, Sonny made a non-violent mistake involving a controlled substance. He took full responsibility, fully cooperated with authorities, and even served as a star witness to help the government. He paid his dues, rebuilt his life, and has been living honestly ever since.

 But now, more than a decade later, ICE has taken Sonny into custody detaining him hundreds of miles away from home. His family is devastated. His elderly mother may never get to see him in person again because he is being held so far away that it’s nearly impossible for her to visit. Without Sonny, his family is not only emotionally broken but also struggling financially, as the person who has always provided for them is now gone.

 This is not justice. This is cruelty. It’s punishing someone twice for the same mistake, tearing apart families, and showing no compassion for a man who has spent years proving his worth and his heart.

 Sonny’s story is not unique countless immigrants are being taken from their homes, their loved ones, and their lives in the exact same way. But today, we can raise our voices for Sonny.
