Hello all,

I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of the Bobaric family as they are dealing with the unimaginable. On August 7th, their father, Smajil suffered a heart attack while traveling in Croatia with his fiancé. He was air lifted to a hospital where he was placed in a medically induced coma.

Outside of sedation, he has not been responsive. He is currently on continuous dialysis to reduce major swelling that was found in his brain.

This has of course been incredibly difficult on the whole family as they navigate supporting their father in another country, within an unfamiliar healthcare system. His middle son, Armin has been staying in Croatia to facilitate this process and will be there for the foreseeable future. He and family at home have been working tirelessly to figure out the moving pieces medically and legally, something that has often left them feeling incredibly helpless.

At this point, they are unsure of what next steps look like for their dad. The major goal is to support his health in the best way possible, and to bring him home to be with family.

This event follows a stroke Smajil experienced last summer, which impacted his speech and cognitive functioning. He underwent intensive speech and occupational therapy through his recovery. He and his family have gone through more in the last year than any family should ever have to experience.

Any and all donations would mean the world to the family, and would directly support Smajil’s medical expenses and in bringing him home.
