SEAT At The Table is more than a short film. It is a powerful example of what can happen when young people are given an opportunity to learn, create, and lead.
Produced through the SEAT Center Build Up Filmmakers program, SEAT At The Table brought together first-time actors, student filmmakers, and community members who worked side by side with industry professionals to create a meaningful story about family, loss, accountability, and hope. For many of the students involved, this was their first experience on a professional film set. They learned acting, camera operation, sound, lighting, production management, and teamwork while contributing to a project they can proudly call their own.
We are excited to share that SEAT At The Table has been selected to screen at the Hip Hop Film Festival in Harlem, one of the nation’s premier festivals celebrating diverse voices and emerging talent. This opportunity gives our students and filmmakers the chance to showcase their work on a major stage, connect with industry professionals, and represent Schenectady and the Capital Region.
Funds raised will help cover festival passes, transportation, promotional materials, and other expenses associated with attending the festival. Your support will ensure that the students who dedicated themselves to this project can experience the rewards of their hard work and continue building pathways into careers in film, media, and the creative industries.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps us bring these young filmmakers to Harlem and demonstrates that our community believes in their talent, their stories, and their future.
Thank you for helping us bring SEAT At The Table to the Hip Hop Film Festival and for investing in the next generation of storytellers.
