Help Bring Scott “Scooter” Winslow Home
I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Dave, Lisa, and Susie as their family faces an unimaginable crisis.
In April 2026, their parents, Claire and Scott “Scooter” Winslow, embarked on what was meant to be the adventure of a lifetime. After decades of hard work, sacrifice, and always putting family first, they were finally able to set sail on a dream trip across the South Pacific with family members.
If you know Claire and Scott, you know their love for the ocean. Some of their happiest memories have been made on the water with friends and family through Wessagusset Yacht Club. This trip was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream—one they earned through years of dedication, hard work, and selflessness.
Claire spent years working long hours in the restaurant industry before retiring. Scott routinely worked 80-plus hour weeks as a contractor to provide for his family. Together, they spent their lives putting others first and making sacrifices for their children and loved ones. This trip was a well-deserved opportunity to enjoy retirement and experience something they had dreamed about for years.
Just weeks into their journey, everything changed.
What initially appeared to be a simple insect bite quickly became something far more serious. Whether it was an insect bite, an infected wound, or another underlying condition remains unclear. What we do know is that while at sea and far from medical care, the infection continued to spread.
For nearly two weeks, Scott’s condition worsened. By the time they were able to reach land, he was so weak he could no longer walk off the boat on his own. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, where doctors discovered the severity of the infection.
Today, Scott is fighting for his life.
He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Lautoka Hospital in Fiji, battling septic shock. His kidneys are functioning at only a fraction of their normal capacity, and the infection has spread to his gallbladder and lungs. After being transferred from a private hospital, Claire was faced with every spouse’s worst nightmare and was told to prepare for the worst.
Meanwhile, Dave, Lisa, and Susie are navigating every phone call, medical update, and difficult decision from thousands of miles away. While they remain hopeful and continue to pray for their father’s recovery, they are also facing the overwhelming financial burden that comes with a catastrophic medical emergency overseas.
Because this crisis occurred in a foreign country and without medical insurance coverage, the medical expenses continue to grow rapidly. In addition, when Scott is stable enough to travel, he will likely require specialized medical transportation and ongoing care to safely return home and begin what will hopefully be a full recovery.
Anyone who knows Scott knows the kind of man he is—hardworking, loyal, generous, and always willing to lend a hand. He has spent a lifetime helping others, supporting his family, and being there whenever someone needed him.
Now, his family needs our help.
On behalf of Dave, Lisa, and Susie, I am asking for your support. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden on the Winslow family and allow them to focus on what matters most: Scott’s recovery and bringing him home.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Scott “Scooter” Winslow, Claire, and the entire Winslow family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. It means more than words can express.
This fundraiser is being organized by Bobby Sheehan on behalf of Scott Winslow and his children, Dave, Lisa, and Suzie Winslow. All funds will be transferred directly to the family to assist with medical, travel, and recovery expenses.
