Hi everyone,

My name is Geralda Cadet, and I am the wife of Sauvenson Calixte, known to many of you as Mr. Breaking News. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to our family, friends, and all those who have been touched by his kindness, his voice, and his work.

My husband is a good man — kind, respectful, and full of life. He never disrespected anyone. He doesn’t chase drama or speak to hurt people. He has always used his voice to educate, inform, and translate important news for the Haitian community so that everyone could understand what was happening around them. He simply wanted to help his people.

It breaks my heart to say that Sauvenson was detained by ICE shortly after his birthday, even though we have a pending residency case that’s been in process for over a year. We did everything right, followed every step, and waited patiently for USCIS to respond — but now, we’re facing one of the hardest moments of our lives.

To everyone online: please understand that this is not a joke. This can happen to anyone. Behind every story, there is a real person, a real family, and real pain. I see people making comments or taking things lightly, but please — be respectful and compassionate. My husband is more than a name online; he’s a loving husband, a friend to many, and someone who has always tried to do good.

I’m asking for your prayers and your support. No prayer is too small and no donation is too little. I’m doing my best to stay strong, to manage the bills and legal fees while he’s away, and to fight for him with everything I have. But I can’t do it alone.
