Help Bring Sadie-Jayne Home for Urgent Care

My name is Michelle. My husband, Steve, and I have 10 children. We live in Pennsylvania, USA. We have 4 adult biological children who have families of their own. We also have 5 adopted children (two from US Foster Care, two from China and one from Bulgaria) at home. This fundraiser is about baby #10, Sadie-Jayne Clark!

We began the process to adopt our sweet little girl from Bulgaria in 2024. She is 4 years old and weighs only 11 lbs. She wears size 3 month clothes and fits best in preemie size diapers. Her medical situation is not fully understood because testing in Bulgaria is not the same as in the US.

On Dec 5, this sweet girl was placed in our arms at the orphanage to live forever with our family.

She was taken to the emergency room in Sofia and directly to ICU.. Within the next couple days she stopped breathing and was intubated and placed on the ventilator. She then developed a blood clot. She now has to have that leg amputated and she is still intubated and on the ventilator. She has severe anemia and has already had several blood transfusions, plasma transfusions, and more. She is not producing a lot of the things her body needs to produce. She is sedated and immunocompromised. She was put on life support and has experienced serious complications since being in the ICU. Her fragile condition at baseline is complicating everything and her condition is very critical at this time.

We are so grateful for the care that the doctors in Bulgaria are providing her. She wouldn’t be here now without their heroic efforts. They are doing their very best and we appreciate it with everything in us. However, they are limited in what they can do for many reasons and basic care is very different from what we are used to in the US. We are only permitted to see her and speak to her doctors for 15-30 minutes each day. It is torture not being able to be with Sadie-Jayne when she is at her most vulnerable and to only receive updates once every 24 hours.

We are now facing a very urgent step: We are IN Bulgaria doing everything we can to bring our Sadie-Jayne home. Because of her medical condition, she needs urgent medical transportation to the US.

The cost of this specialized travel is significant (over $150,000) for just the plane ride. We are working tirelessly trying to figure out what we can safely do for her so she can arrive in the United States safely.

We need a private jet or medi-flight to get her home!

We are humbly asking for any and all financial support. If anyone has any connections to resources, can share and amplify our story and pray for us, we would so appreciate it! Time is critical, and every day matters for her health and future. We would be honored to share more details about her medical needs, our fundraising efforts, and the logistics we are navigating.

Our brave girl is still in the hospital, and each day she shows us just how strong she is. The doctors are carefully monitoring her but she is deteriorating quickly and likely won’t improve until she gets to the US. Every day in Bulgaria means more complications.

She’s fighting with all her might, and we are fighting alongside her—with prayers, love, and determination.

The Bulgarian medical team is calling her “The sweet Bulgarian American”!

Thank you for being a part of our journey to bring Sadie-Jayne home safely.
