Our family is heartbroken as we share the sudden and devastating loss of our beloved mother, Ruthy Salvador Rengechy. We are from Portland, Oregon, and recently traveled to Hawaiʻi so she could attend her sister’s funeral. None of us could have imagined what would happen next. Right after the funeral, my mom suffered a severe stroke, followed by multiple seizures. She fought for her life for an entire week at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Every day we prayed, hoping she would wake up and come back to us. On November 16th, she took her final breath and went home to be with God.
My mom leaves behind her two youngest children, just 10 and 12 years old, whom I now care for and support. Their world has completely changed, and we are all trying to navigate this grief while staying strong for them. Our greatest wish is to bring our mother home to Guam, where she can rest alongside her parents—her father and mother who passed before her. This is her homeland, where she always said she wanted to return someday.
Unfortunately, the cost of transporting her back to Guam, along with funeral arrangements, is incredibly expensive. As much as it pains us to ask, we are facing a financial hardship that we cannot carry alone. We are humbly asking for help to give our mom the peaceful resting place she deserves. Any contribution—no matter how small—will help us bring her home to be laid to rest with her family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, donating, and keeping us in your prayers. Your support means more than we can ever express. With love and gratitude, The Salvador Family
