Roberto Garcia was just 25 years old, and his birthday would have been this April 27th. He was a hardworking young man who crossed the border every day, doing his best to provide for his family and make ends meet. Roberto was deeply loved by his family, and his loss has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.
Tragically, Roberto was incarcerated for the last six months and suddenly passed just two months before he was set to come home. Our family is now facing the heartbreaking challenge of bringing him back to Tijuana so his mother, who does not have legal status to come to the US, can see him one last time. My father is retired and waiting for his retirement funds, so we do not have the resources to transport Roberto ourselves.
We are reaching out to our community for help. The funds raised will go directly toward transporting Roberto to Tijuana and giving our family the chance to say goodbye. Any support you can offer, no matter how small, means the world to us. Thank you for helping us honor Roberto’s memory and bring him home.
