Robert Roquemore Jr. was born on February 13th, 1962, in the city of Watts, California. As the fifth of eight children, Robert was always an intelligent, loving, and caring brother. He grew up adventurous, though a bit shy, and was known for his kindness and respect for the elderly. Later in life, Robert moved from Los Angeles to San Diego, where he continued to share his love and support with everyone around him.
Robert's health began to decline when he was diagnosed with kidney disease. I remember the day he told me he was starting dialysis—we both cried, and he explained how tired he was. I encouraged him to move back to Los Angeles to be closer to family, so I could help him get to his appointments, but he insisted that San Diego was his home. Robert began dialysis treatments on February 18, 2022, and bravely continued until his last treatment on February 7, 2026, with only one kidney functioning at five percent. Despite his struggles, Robert did his best to make his appointments and take care of himself, even when it was hard to accept the challenges he faced. We spoke every day, especially after his treatments, and those moments meant the world to both of us.
Now, I am reaching out for help to bring my brother back to Los Angeles from San Diego for a proper burial in his hometown of Watts. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help cover the transportation and funeral costs needed to bring Robert home to where his story began. Thank you so much for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
