My name is Amy, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart.

On the morning of November 7th, my husband Ricardo Palillero was detained by ICE in Glenview, Illinois. He was surrounded at work, handcuffed without a warrant, without his rights being read, and without a chance to say goodbye to our son—who was right there with him.

Ricardo is the heart of our family. He’s a hardworking landscaper, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a caring son. He has lived in this country for many years, building a life through honest work and sacrifice. He has no criminal record. Every day, he wakes up before sunrise to provide for us—especially now, as I battle serious health issues and we care for his aging parents who are also struggling medically.

His sudden detention has shattered our world. We are scared, overwhelmed, and now without our main source of income. I’m doing everything I can to hold our family together, but we need help.
