About Ransom
When best friends Sandy and Gina both find themselves in precarious financial situtions, they hatch a poorly planned ransom scheme to get rich quick.

Meet the Team

Hi there, I’m Marissa Daigle, the Writer and Director of Ransom! This is a film that aligns with what I’ve always wanted to make… buddy comedies and rom-coms! Unlike my dear Ransom characters, I’m willing to do some honest work to make this project the absolute best it can be. My crew and I have trained vigorously for this day (I forced them to watch The Sugarland Express). My favorite movies are about levity in the face of hardship and I hope to make something entertaining, silly, and heartfelt for the girls and the gays. As a lesbian myself, I want to make movies that have fun representations of gay characters because it is much needed!

Hi! My name is La’Mya and I am the Executive Producer for this project. I pour my heart and soul into every project and take on positions as they come to me, no matter what they are. Despite my inability to remember anything, including my own name, I have a passion to be remembered as a jack of all trades. Maybe in my next life I can be a shapeshifter or a member of congress since they like to change themselves so much. I’m also black if you did not know. Anyway, I cannot wait to bring my best foot forward for this project and make my mark!

Howdy! I'm Thomas Flores, Director of Photography for Ransom. "A stylized film is a beautiful film" -Me. I'm always saying that. And for this reason I've been given the additional title of "Deputy Diva" for the production. I will certainly try my darndest to live up to that title. I hope to further deepen the queer themes of this film through the use of lights, lenses and framing. For I am a humble straight, in this gay world.

Our Budget
Now you're probably curious as to why we're asking for this much and to give you the insight, in order to put on a production and have it been we have to put a lot which comes with cost of transportation, food, props and wardrobe, equipment; even down to how we are able to edit the film!

We hope that with this budget we are able to put on the best production possible and also accommodate crew and cast who pour themselves into their work.

The main reason we want to meet our goal is to compensate our crew fairly. I (Marissa) would happily make this film with no money because I'm so passionate about the idea, but I truly do want this to be the best it can be and that means having good crafty for our 4 days of shooting and fair rates for everyone working on this film. I couldn't do it without them!

The Impact
I want to make this film for women and queer people of all ages. These characters mean a lot to me and I know I would have liked to see a silly story like this when I was younger. This really is just the first step. I aim to write and direct many stories like this and find the joy in circumstances that lack it. There is something special hidden in the ridiculousness of this life.
