TRAIL TO JUNETEENTH
Help Bring “QUEEN OPAL’S WALK FOR FREEDOM” to Life!
Dr. Opal Lee walked from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C. so we could all celebrate freedom. Her journey changed history—leading to JUNETEENTH becoming America’s newest national holiday.
Hence, all "Trails Have Lead to Juneteenth".
We Walk for Freedom Everyday ~ johngalesjr
Now, her story is being told through a powerful new stage play and musical: QUEEN OPAL’S WALK FOR FREEDOM. The stage play and musical is written by award-winning artists Dr. Janice L. Liddell, Byron C. Saunders, and Walter Bland Jr. Through song, dance, and sacred storytelling, this production honors Dr. Lee’s legacy and the generations who fought for liberation.
But we need your help to bring this vision to the stage.
This is more than a show. It’s a movement.
It’s a walk for justice, memory, and healing.
It’s a celebration of June 19, 1865—and the fight that made it a national holiday.
