Remembering Michelle

Hello, my name is Sumer and I’m 24 years old. Way too young to be saying goodbye to my mom, but here we are.. I am the eldest child of my mom’s two children and I am taking full responsibility of my momma’s remains.

My mom, Laura-Michelle Trent (Michelle), age 42 of Lexington, NC, went missing Monday August 16th, 2021. Her body was discovered Friday August 20th, 2021 in High Rock Lake. The death of my mom was sudden and has been very traumatic for the entire family. An autopsy is underway to determine her cause of death, though we believe she drowned in the Yadkin River at the 64W access, near Tarheel Q. Police believe this was an accidental death and have no suspicion of foul play at the moment. The case is still under investigation. But after the autopsy is done, we would like to hold a memorial and have my mom cremated as we will not be able to have an open casket funeral due to advanced decomposition. All proceeds will go toward paying for cremation and making keepsakes for myself, my little sister, and the rest of the family.
