Help bring peace to an overwhelming death
Donation protected
At 9:30 AM on 9/5/20 my sons & I received a phone call we had always dreaded but hoped and prayed we'd never have to answer. Tacoma police informed me my children's father had died, suspected suicide.
As many of you know, Josh's relationship with his sons has been complicated, moving in & out of their lives like a revolving door. However, this last week Josh had been making efforts to reconnect, sending them texts & pictures. My boys, Willy (18) & Nate (17) were cautiously optimistic that their father's mental health illness had stabilized and a functional relationship with their dad may actually become a reality.
Unfortunately, the hopes of building that future were crushed by the news that their father had allegedly hanged himself.
To complicate matters further, Will, our 18 year old son, is Josh's legal next of kin, placing the burden of his father's funeral arrangements, decisions regarding his body, communications with the examiner, and the associated expenses to fall on the shoulders of barely an adult.
Attempts to seek financial assistance from Josh's parents, Will & Nate's paternal grandparents, to help lay him to rest have been unsuccessful.
I asked my boys their wishes as it applies to their father's final resting place. Although the option of not claiming the body exists, resulting in the state absorbing the cost and the responsibility of Josh, my boys cannot bare the idea of their father being abandoned and not receive a proper burial.
My boys have chosen love over hate, forgiveness over bitterness and would like to honor him in his death by providing him with a moderate and conservative service. Unfortunately, the logistics are rather complex as Josh's body is in Washington state, creating an even larger financial burden as it requires the cost & use of two funeral homes & airfare.
We ask for any assistance possible in the form of prayers, thoughts, support and monetary donations to help my boys process this emotionally complicated death, and assistance in providing us the resources needed to respectfully lay their father to rest. Many thanks to you all. With love Willy, Nate & Amanda Puls ❤
