Help bring Patrick home

Donation protected
Our son Patrick was injured in an accident and remains in a state of semi consciousness.  He has a traumatic brain injury. He definitely shows signs of improvement. We feel confident that he will regain consciousness. This is the start of a long journey for Patrick. His medical team has informed us that it will be a rocky road with many peaks and valleys.  We want to bring Patrick closer to home so that we can visit and participate in his rehab.

Patrick has been battling opioid addiction for a long time. He has struggled, stumbled and fallen. He has come back to us intermittently only to slip backwards.  He has suffered and missed so many good things in life. He has been to the bottom and has lost friends to drugs.
He was going through a program and was living in a sober home in New Jersey working towards a realistic plan with assistance from the program when the accident occurred.
I am not entirely comfortable asking for help, but friends have encouraged me that this is the right thing to do.  I am putting out a request to the community. We know that we have friends who would like to help in any way possible and will respond in kindness.  We have just started this journey and have already encountered angels along the way.  There are many good people in the world.
We are grateful that Patrick is still with us and has received excellent care at one of the best trauma units in the area. They have saved his life and are taking great care of him.  He is almost ready to be discharged to a skilled facility and then, soon hopefully to a rehabilitation facility.
The cost of transporting Patrick by ambulance which would require a nurse to accompany him was quoted to me as between $7,000 to $8,000. Additional travel expenses are ongoing.  I am setting a goal or request for $10,000.
We remain positive and are thankful for your thoughts and  prayers for Patrick.  It is going to be a long journey and we appreciate all the support from the our community

Many friends have asked about Ed's health so let me give you an update. He is now in a wheelchair mostly. He is  totally deaf and communication is difficult and frustrating.  He still travels daily on his scooter across the street to shop and get out. He deals with many obstacles yet maintains a good attitude which is remarkable under his limited circumstances.
I will provide updates on Patrick's progress.  Let's bring him home.
