My name is Heidi, and I am a mother fighting for time—time to be with my son, Patrick. Patrick is only 33 years old and is bravely battling ALS, a devastating disease that is taking more from him each day. Despite everything, he continues to show strength, courage, and a spirit that inspires everyone who meets him.
Right now, Patrick is in a skilled nursing facility far from home. While he is receiving basic care, it is not the life he deserves—especially not in his final months. What he truly wants, and what I am fighting to give him, is the chance to come home to South Carolina… to be surrounded by love, family, and peace. We are trying to bring Patrick to be with me so I can care for him, hold his hand, and make sure he is not alone in this chapter of his life. But bringing him home is not simple—and it is not covered. We are facing overwhelming costs, including medical transport to South Carolina, renting a home that can accommodate his needs, 24/7 care and support, specialized medical equipment not provided through the facility, and daily care expenses to keep him comfortable and safe.
Even though Patrick is in a nursing facility, many of the supports he truly needs to live with dignity and comfort are not covered. We are trying to fill those gaps so his remaining time is filled with love—not limitations. This is not about extending time. This is about improving the time he has left. If you can donate, share, or simply keep Patrick in your prayers, it means more than words can ever express. Every bit of support brings us closer to bringing him home where he belongs. Thank you for standing with us in this fight—for dignity, for family, and for love.
