My father-in-law, Pastor Andres Pedro Garcia, has always been a pillar of strength and faith for our family and church community. Recently, our lives were turned upside down when he was unexpectedly detained at an ICE processing center.
It all happened when he was in the airport waiting for his flight to Arizona around 5AM at the Gerald Ford Airport. He was awaiting the establishment of a new church and was required to travel to have papers signed and notarized. Little did we know that it would be the last time we saw him. He was approached by officials who said that he was going to be taken for questioning, leaving behind his wife and son who were accompanying him at the time. Questions were asked, yet no one knew where he was taken to. A little over an hour later, we received a call from his phone that he was going to be sent to a processing center and await deportation. What we all feared became reality when we heard the news. The uncertainty has been overwhelming for our family and congregation.
It has been a very tough time trying to figure out the next steps to have him home, but we have faith that God will provide in times of need. I write this on behalf of our family and with the sincerest gratitude towards any and all help that is given. He has left behind his wife, 4 sons and 3 daughters as well as 2 daughter in-laws, 2 son in-laws and 13 grandchildren with 1 on the way. Help us during these trivial times to bring back our most loved father and pastor. As those who may know him, Pastor Andres Pedro Garcia is a genuine person who is always putting others' needs before his and is always giving for the sole purpose of wanting better for everyone.
I am reaching out to our community for help during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will go directly toward legal fees to fight Pastor Andres’s deportation and to support his family as we navigate this heartbreaking situation.
