Help bring our Yassi home to Queensland!

Our beautiful older sister Yasmin was first diagnosed with very aggressive, triple negative breast cancer in August 2019, at the age of 34. She bravely battled through 6 months of chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, receiving the all clear from cancer in February last year. Living in Melbourne meant that her ‘year in remission’ was just as challenging with months spent in lockdown, unable to see family and friends. After a long over due family reunion at Christmas 2020 Yas developed a pesky cough in early January. Several weeks later we received the devastating news; the cancer is back and it’s already spread to her lungs, liver and bones.

Yasmin is now facing her second cancer battle in two years, and trying to come to terms with the fact that she will have to live with incurable stage 4 breast cancer for the rest of her life. Since March she has already undergone 2 rounds of Radiotherapy, 2 biopsies, a bronchoscopy, countless scans/tests and one unsuccessful round of chemotherapy.

This devastating diagnosis has brought with it many emotional and financial hardships and we have been tackling them head on as a family to the best of our ability. But as anyone can imagine there comes a time when help is needed, that is where we are now.

For the first time since age 15, Yasmin is currently unable to work. She needs to focus her time and energy on a new trial treatment which involves close monitoring and daily hospital visits. As the treatment and disease continue take its toll we have decided as a family that it’s time to bring Yasmin home to Queensland so she can be supported and looked after by her loved ones.

We are kindly asking for donations to help fund the move back to Queensland and welcome any donations or services to help complete the current construction of a granny flat in lake Cooroibah where Yasmin can live independently for as long as possible.
