We’re a team of three passionate student filmmakers; Soraya Alicia, Simon Kieffer and Ferdi van Sorge from University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU). We are working to create How Many Miles, a visually powerful short film about sisterhood, loss, and the haunting search for truth. It’s a story that follows 16-year-old Charlie as she searches for her missing sister, Robin, uncovering secrets that shatter her understanding of family, love, and identity.
At its core, this film is about the quiet desperation of feeling unheard, the courage to trust your instincts, and the unbreakable bond between siblings.
Why We Need Your Support:
We’ve developed a script we deeply believe in, assembled a dedicated cast and crew, and are fully committed to telling this story with the care and quality it deserves. But filmmaking, even on a student level, takes resources.

Our Vision:
How Many Miles will be shot in a visual style inspired by Wong Kar Wai — poetic, atmospheric, and emotionally raw. Think glowing city lights, lonely nighttime bike rides, and long, reflective takes that immerse the viewer in Charlie’s inner world. It’s a deeply cinematic approach to a deeply personal story.
