My name is ShaRona and my husband Ron and I are the parents of Nehemiah, affectionately known as Nemo. Our son recently enlisted in the Army National Guard just a few months ago, ready to serve his country. Now we are praying our community can help serve him.
On what was supposed to be a fun cruise trip with friends in the Bahamas, our lives changed in an instant. Our son was involved in a serious ATV accident. He crashed into a pole, was thrown airborne, and landed with severe injuries that put him in the ICU.
His friends did not want to leave his side, but we convinced them to get back on the ship. They reluctantly did, and we are so grateful they did not also end up stranded in a foreign country. His mother dropped everything and flew to the Bahamas to be by his side. After exhausting their finances, they need help getting home.
By the grace of God, he has made it out of the ICU and is progressing in his recovery. But he is not out of the woods yet. He needs surgeries that can only be performed back home in the United States.
Due to his condition, flying commercial is not an option. He must be transported back to the US by boat or medical air flight, which comes with its own significant fees on top of everything else we are already facing.
So many of you have reached out asking how you can help, and this is how. We need your help to cover the cost of medical transport back to the US, handle the hospital bills already piling up, and fund the surgeries and treatment he needs to fully recover that exceeds our insurance.
Our family has been torn apart by this situation, and all we want is to get back home together and start the road to healing. This could have been so much worse. God has truly been with us through every moment of this. But now we need our village.
