Hey y’all, we are Carla and Rob! We are hopeful romantics who happen to be actors who met on a Broadway show called “Here Lies Love” and what started off as a friendship turned into a creative collaboration that celebrates LOVE.

The Story Behind Table For Three

Table For Three is our first short film as co-creators, inspired by Carla’s failed love life (just kidding lol…but maybe not) during a time when her 4.5 year long relationship plateaued to the point where she had asked him if he’d be open to adding a third person to their relationship. Rob, on the other hand, has a flourishing love life (also just kidding lol), but he was first introduced to the idea of polyamory by an Asian American couple in college, which opened his world to what romantic partnerships can look like.

Why now? Why this story matters

We made this film now because we rarely see stories about modern love told through AAPI and Hispanic/Latinx characters and creators. Our cast and crew reflect those identities, and together we wanted to celebrate the ways our cultures hold, challenge, and deepen our ideas of connection.

Ultimately, this short is a love letter to imperfect intimacy — to the moments that make you laugh, cringe, and recognize something honest in yourself.

Where Your Money Goes

This film may be born from Rob and Carla’s love for storytelling, but unfortunately love doesn’t cover insurance premiums. Your support helps us pay our crew fairly, keep them well-fed (snacks = Rob’s love language, we’ve accepted this), and take care of equipment, insurance, and post-production.

Our total goal is $5,000, and every single donor will get a thank-you credit at the end of the film (because gratitude is free and we give it generously).
