Help Us Bring Our Friend Zeel Home to His Family

We are Mayur and Ankit, Zeel Rakeshkumar Surti’s roommates and close friends. We are raising this fundraiser to help Zeel’s family during the most heartbreaking and difficult time of their lives.

Our dear friend Zeel Rakeshkumar Surti, born in 1997, tragically passed away on 12 August 2026 after suffering a sudden cardiac event while he was at work.

We never imagined that one day we would have to write these words about our friend and roommate.

Zeel was not just our roommate. He was our friend, someone we shared our daily life with, and someone whose sudden loss has left us devastated.

Zeel was the only child of his parents, who live in Surat, Gujarat, India. He had not been able to meet his parents for the last four years.

His parents had been waiting for the day they would finally see their only son again.

Instead, they are now waiting for their son to be brought home so they can perform his final rites and say their final goodbye.

The necessary formal procedures are still being completed. His parents are in Surat, desperately waiting for news and for their son to be brought back home.

We cannot imagine the pain of a parent losing their only child. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that Zeel had not seen his parents for four years. They were waiting to meet him again, but now they are preparing to say goodbye.

Alongside the immense emotional pain, Zeel’s family is facing the financial burden of the arrangements that need to be made.

We are raising funds to help with the costs of bringing Zeel home to his family in Surat, transportation, funeral and final-rites arrangements, necessary documentation, and other immediate expenses related to his final arrangements.

We are asking our friends, colleagues, community and anyone who comes across this fundraiser to please support Zeel’s family.
