My husband is an Iranian-born business owner, a mentor to youth, and the heart of our family. He has lived in the United States since 1991, building a life here and supporting our community for over 30 years. As a volunteer mentor, he has helped countless young people find their path in life, and as a business owner in construction, he has worked tirelessly to provide for our family and create jobs for others. He is also a music maker, always bringing joy and cheer to those around him. He is a devoted father to his 15-year-old daughter, three adult children, and a loving stepfather to my 14-year-old son. He is a loving husband to me. Our family and community miss him deeply right now.
On December 17th, our lives were turned upside down when he was suddenly detained by ICE in front of his office. He was only allowed a brief call to his son before being taken away. The conditions he has faced in detention have been extremely difficult—he spent days without a shower or clean clothes, crowded into a small room with dozens of others. He has since been moved to a facility in Adelanto, CA, where I was finally able to see him, but he has lost weight and is understandably afraid. Despite these hardships, he continues to bring positive energy to those around him, but we are worried about how long he will be held. Others in the facility have been there for more than six months, and we fear he could be separated from us for even longer.
We have a strong legal case and have already paid thousands of dollars to a lawyer, but we need help to cover ongoing legal and court fees, as well as the cost of bail. Your support will help us bring him home, keep our family together, and ensure he can continue to care for his loved ones and his business. We are deeply grateful for any help, caring, love, generosity, and commitment you can offer to our family during this difficult time.
